~ Utilizing “ChargeSPOT” as Community Safety Spots Through Dedicated App Integration ~
INFORICH Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya, Tokyo; President: Hironobu Akiyama), the operator of the mobile battery sharing service “ChargeSPOT™,” and otta Inc. (Headquarters: Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture; President: Fumitaka Yamamoto) have begun a joint initiative to expand monitoring spots as part of otta’s Town Security BLE Monitoring Service.
By installing a dedicated app onto “ChargeSPOT” battery stands, these stands will function as monitoring spots, recording the location information of otta service users. Out of approximately 45,000 “ChargeSPOT” units installed across Japan, around 30,000 units will initially have the app installed, enabling them to serve as monitoring spots.
This expansion brings the total number of otta monitoring spots to about 80,000, significantly enhancing the service’s ability to provide accurate and widespread location information to users.
■ Background of the Joint Deployment of Monitoring Spots
otta provides services that involve the entire community in monitoring children and seniors. When individuals carrying dedicated monitoring devices pass through monitoring spots installed in schools, parks, and along school routes, their location information is recorded, and parents or stakeholders can check this data via a dedicated app.
“ChargeSPOT” battery stands, on the other hand, are installed at approximately 45,000 locations across Japan, including commercial and public facilities, train stations, and leisure spots with high foot traffic. These locations align perfectly with the installation needs of otta’s monitoring spots. Leveraging this existing infrastructure is expected to accelerate the rapid expansion of the monitoring network.
INFORICH aims to maximize the value of “ChargeSPOT” locations while pursuing its mission of “Bridging Beyond Borders — Connecting the World Across Boundaries.” The collaboration with otta represents a partnership that transcends boundaries of community, generation, and technology, significantly contributing to strengthening monitoring services and enhancing local safety and security.
Additionally, otta has a proven track record of leveraging its systems during emergencies, such as visualizing evacuation statuses based on location data during disasters. This partnership is expected to create synergies, utilizing “ChargeSPOT” locations not only in regular times but also in various situations.
■ Future Plans
・Start of App Installation: From November 2024
・Planned Number of App-Equipped Units: Approx. 30,000
(Further expansion planned afterward)
■ About otta’s Monitoring Service
otta’s monitoring service includes stationary monitoring spots at stores and facilities and allows community members to install the “Monitoring App” on their smartphones, transforming them into mobile monitoring spots and contributing to network expansion. Additionally, through partnerships with taxi companies, moving taxis function as monitoring spots, enabling wide-range monitoring coverage.
